Strandhill is located along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, just 8km from Sligo town. We are ideally situated in the center of the village, just 100m from the beachfront and 100m from the bus stop with connections to town every hour.
Surfing in Strandhill
The spirit of surfing is at the very heart of Strandhill village and there is nothing better than the taste of a Mammy Johnston’s ice cream or a Guinness in The Strand, to celebrate a great day of surfing! Strandhill is a great spot to for you first surf lesson or to improve your skills, but it’s also the perfect place to stay for a weekend and easily reach the countless surf spots around Sligo and Donegal County.
We offer lessons for varying skill levels, from beginner to advanced. We have fully certified instructors who love to surf and are committed to passing their passion and skills on to you!
All Gear Provided
Surf lessons run for about 2 hours and include the use of a surfboard, a wet suit, and any other gear. All you need to bring is a towel, a bathing suit, and a sense of adventure!
With Benbulben in view to the north and Knocknarea peaking over the village, there is hardly a better site while riding a wave back to shore!

Voya Seaweed Baths
Seaweed baths have been a tradition in Ireland for hundreds of years and it has a special history here in Strandhill. Voya is the perfect place to relax and enjoy all of the benefits that seaweed has to offer.
Home to the ancient tomb of Queen Maeve, it only takes about an hour to get from our doorstep to the top of this ancient hill. A hike up Knocknarea is the perfect way to enjoy the beautiful views that the ocean and mountains have to offer.
Strandhill Golf Club is a beautiful 18 hole links golf course situated on Ireland's Atlantic coast in Strandhill, Sligo.
We are only 8km away from Sligo town, which has connections to each major city in Ireland.
